Introduction-
We have a healthcare problem in the US because we have a toxin problem. Toxins are in our food, our cosmetics, our water, our cleaning supplies, our air, and our environment and they are also in our heads-stress, lack of sleep, lack of movement, toxic relationships, and anxiety. We are 37th in the world in health. 133 million Americans – nearly half the population – suffer from at least one chronic illness- hypertension, heart disease, autoimmune diseases, or cancer. Over 50% of our children have a chronic illness. This is one reason why Americans have been hit so hard with Corona-19; our immune systems are not strong enough to ward off the disease. It is about toxic load. Our bodies cannot keep up with the accumulating toxicity. We develop inflammation which leads to chronic disease. Conventional medicine matches a pharmaceutical to each symptom which does not address the root cause of the dis-ease.
This book gives you the tools to be healthier.
Author Bio–
Cheryl Meyer was a solopreneur who was so busy “doing” she missed the signs that her toxic load was building. One morning she woke up in extreme pain. Her conventional doctor tested multiple times and concluded that nothing was wrong with Cheryl. This MD still offered her steroids. Cheryl knew something was wrong with her health. She did not want a life of pain and pills. Cheryl started researching and tripped into multiple summits by the functional medical community. She figured out she probably had autoimmune disease. This was verified two years later by a functional MD. She researched “toxic load” and “leaky gut”. Her research led her to trading the toxins she found in her life for lower toxic items. Her cortisol was borderline Addison’s Disease, so she also researched how to reduce her stress and improve her sleep.
In five years, Cheryl had significantly lowered her toxic load. She found support to control her disease from her functional MD. She learned exercises to lower her stress. She was now pain free. She returned to school at 67 to become a health coach so that she could share what she had learned with others, to help them find solutions, so that they too could return to relative wellness.
Author Quotation
If you are having serious health issues and not finding answers, this book holds the key for you to make lifestyle changes that will begin your journey back to wellness.
Book Information, It Feels Good to Feel Good-
We have power over our health. The first step in cleaning up the toxins in our lives, and lowering our toxic load, is to eat real organic foods of all the colors of the rainbow, cook to control what we eat, and avoid processed and fast food laden with chemicals. The next step is to root out the toxic products in our lives and exchange them for lower toxin items. Then we need to lower our stress and improve our sleep. Finally, we take the remaining steps to lower the balance of toxins and return to relative wellness. This book shares what steps I took to eliminate the pain of my autoimmune disease. I share where I researched, what I found, what products I eliminated, what I replaced them with, and other tips to lower my toxic load so that you too can get a head start to protect your health.
This book is for anyone with a chronic disease who wants to be proactive with their health and make the lifestyle changes that will support you. It is also for anyone who is now healthy but wants to thrive and keep their cognizance into old age.
Take back your power over your health. Stop sabotaging the health that you want. Commit to health. Choose to make it happen. With choice comes action. “Depending upon the commitment to your goal, a permanent choice becomes a permanent solution. A temporary change is a stay of execution. No choice/no change.” Carlos Garcia, MD
This book gives you the tools to be healthier once again.

This is my Kirkus Review
T FEELS GOOD TO FEEL GOOD Learn To Eliminate Toxins, Reverse Inflammation and Feel Great Again Cheryl Meyer Illus. by Nicholas Patton Heavenly Tree Press (452 pp.)$19.99 paperback, $9.99 e-bookISBN: 978-0-578-56959-8February 24, 2020BOOK REVIEW Readers are all living in a toxic soup, but they can take steps to clean up their lives and heal the pain caused by unhealthy regimens, according to this guide. An updated edition of Meyer’s 2017 debut, this wide-ranging and at times alarmist manual promises to help readers understand the sources of pain and other chronic health problems, including, but not limited to,diabetes, heart disease, autism, and various autoimmune diseases. The author, a health coach and functional medicine advocate, singles out inflammation as the root cause of all these conditions. To feel better and regain control of their health, readers must fight “the fire of inflammation” by eliminating toxins in their lives.Meyer draws heavily on her own experience with pain and chronic illness, using examples from her life to illustrate how to go toxin-free. “Big Agriculture, Big Pharma, and Big Food are all loading our world with chemicals that are poisoning us,” she warns, and it’s up to readers to identify those unhealthy substances and eliminate them from their lives. Much of the book focuses on diet. Genetically modified items come in for particular attack, as do processed foods and sugar, which is likened to cocaine. Embracing a “clean” diet is a critical step on the path to wellness. But clearing out the pantry and forgoing McDonald’s are just among the first of many steps Meyer suggests. Toxins also lurk in cosmetics (especially fragrances) and cleaning products. Even relationships can be sources of damaging, toxic stress. Getting rid of all this nasty stuff is a years long project, the author admits, but making the effort is worth it. Despite the sometimes fear mongering tone, Meyer raises many valid concerns about the quality of the food many Americans eat and the possibly harmful chemicals hiding in everyday products. The book, which features Patton’s cartoonish line illustrations, also points to many sources for the author’s claims, not all of them equally reputable. Some valuable information comes from prestigious organizations such as Harvard University and the Mayo Clinic. But she also cites more controversial medical practitioners, like Dr. Joseph Mercola, an American physician who markets diet supplements. Makes an impassioned—if not always convincing—case for the benefits of toxin-free lives.
Authors note:
I debated whether or not to share the Kirkus review, (which is a very prestigious book review group) but decided it is an excellent example as to why we are so ill. Although the reviewer can see the value of what I am writing about, they would prefer Harvard studies, which makes me wonder if they actually read the book. I address this in full in the book. I was appalled that universities are “owned” by big business, big business is a huge contributor to their schools, and so if there is any independent study going on there, that person often gets closed down. In other words, many university studies are as fake as the synthetic food that they are studying.
Harvard studies through the years were paid for by the companies like Coca Cola, and the Sugar industry and the Soy oil industry to give deceptive results and that’s part of the reason we are in the toxic soup that we are in. The conventional medical community knows nothing about toxins, and therefore does not address them, and yet these poisons in our every day products are making us sick. And there is too much money in Washington so our government is not protecting us.
Even the reviewers last comment, that I make an impassioned case, if not always convincing case, for the benefits of a toxin-free life. Just using logic, in what world would living with toxins/poisons be good for the human body. And yes, Dr. Mercola and other Naturopaths do sell supplements instead of pushing pharmaceuticals, but that does not make them wrong.
I actually address all of this at length in the book, because I was appalled at how much poison was in my life; that the conventional medical community knew nothing about food or toxins; and that I expected to be attacked. Yes it did take me 5 years to eliminate all these toxins but today I am pain free. NO PAIN, and that’s HUGE. I still have autoimmune disease but not the pain.
Had I accepted conventional medical wisdom I would be bed ridden today, unproductive and feeling sorry for myself.
The statistics prove me correct.
- We are 37th in the world in health. We spend more on healthcare than any other country in the world. And our system is broken. Our healthcare system cannot keep up with the expense of the rapid rise of chronic illness in our country.
- 53% of our children are suffering from a chronic illness. 53%. Yikes
- Newborns are being born with more than 287 toxins in their bodies, which they are inheriting from their mothers’ bodies through the umbilical cord. Of the 287 chemicals we detected in umbilical cord blood, we know that 180 cause cancer in humans or animals, 217 are toxic to the brain and nervous system, and 208 cause birth defects or abnormal development in animal tests.[i]
- By the time a child is 5, they have eaten 7 pounds of toxins, according to Mark Hymen, MD, a leading functional practitioner. No wonder they are getting ill, their little bodies cannot handle all these toxins.
- 16% have learning disabilities
- 11% of our children have asthma
- 10% of our children have ADHD
- 8% of our children have food allergies. There are no statistics on how many of our children have food sensitivities
- 5% of our children have seizures
- 2% of our males have autism
- 5% of all our children have autism
- Childhood asthma rose 300% in 40 years (GMO’s exasperate allergies)
- Childhood leukemia and brain cancer rose 40% in 40 years
- 30% of our population will have diabetes within 5 years. That also makes those Americans much more susceptible to super viruses.
- Millennial’s health now peaks at 27 and then declines.
- A Gen X’er makes it all the way to 37. Still totally frightening.
- American couples dealing with fertility issues rose 20% in 10 years
- And Boomers, my generation, accept that they should live a life of pain and pills. And they are stuck; they don’t want to change or be “deprived” by giving up what is making them sick. If they would take back their power over their health they would discover that they do not need to live a life of pain and pills.
The leading authority on toxins is Naturopath Dr. Joesph Pizzorno. A naturopathic physician, educator, researcher and expert spokesman, Pizzorno is founding president of Bastyr University. Under his leadership, Bastyr became the first fully accredited, multidisciplinary university of natural medicine and the first NIH-funded center for alternative medicine research. He has written a book called The Toxin Solution which I highly recommend. What makes It Feels Good to Feel Good different, is that I give a layman’s explanation of what is going on, and a step by step solution to the issue as a normal person.
I have always hated when someone tells me I need to do something with absolutely no explanation as to how to do it. I wrote the second book Feeling Good Living Low Toxin in Community and Everyday Life to explain how I adopted sustainable lifestyle habits once I eliminated all the toxins I discussed in book 1. How I eat out, at restaurants, at others homes, when traveling by car, domestically, internationally, by boat (Cruises) around the world. I explain why its important to cook and what it means to your body to eat the rainbow. I explain how cells have a shelf life and that we need to start eating to have healthy materials to rebuild our bodies with. I share how I save on healthy food. I address the importance of doing stress exercises, practicing gratitude and new thoughts on self care. And…..I address what needs to happen for parents to raise healthy children in the 21st Century and to create a healthy environment for our pets. The statistics on pet health are just as appalling as the statistics on us and on our children and again, it all leads back to a root cause of toxins and poison.
So if you want to stay well, follow the findings of the Blue Zones (National Geographic project) which is my opening chapter in both books. Clean up the toxins and ignore the people who aren’t convinced. Ignore the studies, no matter how prestigious the university is. Those are often paid to do the study by an arm of Big Food, Big Pharma or Big Agriculture. I follow the experts of Functional Medicine and my results are my proof. In many ways conventional medicine is letting us down, which is why Functional Medicine has been born and Naturopaths have a refreshing approach to making us well again. Conventional Medicine matches the pill to the complaint. Functional Medicine uses all available modalities to look at the body as a whole and then to discover the root cause of the disfunction of the body.
You want to live to old age without disease and with your cognizance. The rest of America does not or is not ready to change. If you already are ill, then take back your power and follow my recommendations to change your life and change your health. Do you really care what conventional approaches are if you are sick? Time to own it yourself and take control of your own body, your children’s bodies and your pets bodies. You will feel the difference in a relatively short period of time, and it will be worth it.

Hi Cheryl, I first want to say thank you and (big hugs). Your book may have saved my life.
“Amazing! Amazing! Amazing!
I went to all of my conventional doctors and not one would do any food testing. They all wanted to give me medication based on my symptoms. So I turned to functional doctors as you described in your book and I found an amazing one about 45 minutes away. While I have to pay out of pocket for the visits my insurance actually paid for the lab testing. All of my “normal” lab testing that a functional doctor would do came back well “normal” but the amount of information line by line my functional doctor gave me was amazing.
Moving on to food sensitivity I am blown away. I honestly don’t know what I can eat. My card I take to a restaurant will probably be a small list of 3 things I can eat. Lol. From dairy to gluten to eggs to nuts my panel is in the hot zone. No wonder every time I eat I feel bad. Now because of that both my functional and conventional doctor both want me to see a GI doctor and have an endoscopy just to be sure we can see the whole picture and that’s coming next week.
After the results my conventional doctors will sit down with me with the full case AND get this and with a nutritionist to map out a plan for three months starting to work with me. Based on my food panel the nutritionist will be my best friend (I pray). Based on initial results my conventional doctors suspects leaky gut and wants a completely clean diet.
So in summary for now, you rock, for writing your book! Maybe you’ve saved some of the best years of my life to come. I will keep in touch during and after these three months a D my journey ahead. Without your book I would have never known about any of this. But I knew it had to be food just didn’t understand any of it until now (well at least I’m starting).
Happy new year to you!!! And (hugs) (hugs) (hugs). Lisa

I absolutely LOVE this book. It is full of so much informative information broken down for a layperson’s understanding. Cheryl has done an excellent job making everything simple. I love how she recognizes what points are the most important and have made the information easy to digest. It Feels Good has become my go-to book, especially for understanding inflammation. It is packed with incredible information, that I did not know and honestly never would have given thought to as it relates to my health. I believe every person needs this book in their home. I myself, am thoroughly enjoying it and am feeling good while reading it.

It Feels Good to Read Cheryl’s Wisdom
I loved how Cheryl invites us to make practical changes in our home enviroment gradually by replacing an item with a better alternative and not just throwing everything out at once.
It is all a very doable strategy and one she shares took her 5 years.
I loved learning about the affects of food and how literally we can use food to heal. Cheryl has a vast breadth of knowledge that she shares in a fun and easy to understand way. She invites us to cook and eat real food from all the colors of the rainbow.
I have employed several of her suggestions about food and personal care products and my awareness of the products I use in my home and environment has been raised. So grateful for the wisdom in this book. Enjoy. Janette Stuart
Cheryl has been such a blessing to me and my health. I have learned so much from her about taking my health to the next level.
Overall, I am basically a pretty healthy person with no particular health concerns, however, Cheryl has opened my eyes to see how I have been compromising my future health by what I am currently doing right now. I not only appreciate how she educates her readers in an easy-to-understand dialogue, but also how she coaches us to implement healthy habits and choices gradually so as to not feel overwhelmed and want to just give up. Her book guides you at your own pace allowing you to take baby steps towards better health which will result in a complete life reset over the course of a short time.” –Deborah Lamborghini
I have been dealing with Ulcerative Colitis for over 10 years so I have tried a wide variety of different natural remedies and lifestyle alternatives. I struggle with reading traditional health books due to small fonts and getting overwhelmed with terminology.
Cheryl’s book was highly informative but also engaging and fun to read due to her illustrations and digestible content. I quickly learned how to remove toxins from multiple areas of my life and my Colitis symptoms improved drastically.
In addition to her book, Cheryl has gone out of her way to spend time on the phone with me to further educate me on helping my parents to have a better quality of life due to their ages and various conditions.
Cheryl is sincerely passionate about helping people to live a healthier lifestyle and not just “selling” her product/services.
If you are looking for a good source on healthier lifestyle habits, I HIGHLY recommend “It Feels Good To Feel Good” by Cheryl Meyer.
I have researched and read a lot but there is a lot of conflicting/confusing information out there.
I am learning a lot about how to remove toxins and inflammation from my life physically, mentally and emotionally.
I have been exploring different ways to remove toxins (physical, mental, relationships and other) from my life since 2015. I have been battling Colitis since 2009 and Cheryl’s book has helped a lot.
Cheryl did a great job of organizing and consolidating information into an easily digestible book that is enjoyable and fun to read.
Thank you! –Bryan Gallinger

“A friend of mine is a holistic practitioner who swears by the lifestyle. She hasn’t entirely managed to convince me, although I do agree with her on several points, but her being involved in this lifestyle is what drew me toward reading this book.
I was pleasantly surprised by how informative, well researched and detailed this book is. When I talked to my friend about some of the topics, she was intrigued to read the book too. I think that you need to have some interest in the topic already before you start reading, and an open mind, but if you have both those things, this book can teach you a lot, and is definitely worth it.” Books are Forever 12/23/17
“My friend, Cheryl Meyer has written a book that I recently finished called “It feels good to feel good”.
It has a lot of common sense solutions (many that you would never think of) to healthy, toxin free living designed around the reduction of inflammation through what you put in and on your body. Most of this is from her personal experience. I know Cheryl to be one of the finest people you’ll ever know. Cheryl’s also a big proponent of “functional medicine”. If you are unfamiliar with this form of medical practice, you need to read her book. It will change the way you think”. Frank Jones
Cheryl’s book is as timely as it is informative.
This is an excellent read for those seasoned in the holistic lifestyle as well as those just beginning. There is something for everyone. Her material covers everything from probiotics, house cleaning materials, and abdominal massages, to which teas to drink for better sleep. She has the latest information on metal detoxing and extensive research on the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat.
Cheryl provides real solutions that can be implemented far beyond the basics with a bend toward functional medicine. I personally ordered three products within hours of reading her book. I’m especially thrilled with the depth of her research around relationships and those that can be toxic. Make sure to read this book and hold onto the “not to miss points” at the beginning of each section.

This book takes you through step by step on how to eliminate toxins in your body, environment, and life.
The author, Cheryl Meyer, understands that it takes time to make these changes and encourages the reader to make small changes to start. Elimination of sugar is a vital course of action, but it is so difficult to do because there is sugar hidden in so many things. The book alerts you to how many added chemicals and unnecessary ingredients are in our “food” and demonstrates ways to eat more whole foods to improve overall health. In It Feels Good to Feel Good, author Cheryl Meyer talks about how to eliminate toxins from your life, how to (hopefully) avoid chronic pain, how to burst stress and get some good night’s sleep.
In short, how to live a healthier life. Cheryl Meyer knows what chronic pain is, having suffered through it herself, and wrote this guide because she wished that when she first suffered from chronic pain, a guide like this would be available to her, yet it wasn’t – so, she wrote it herself. All the tips and tricks, guidelines and information she uncovered over the years on how to live with pain, how to diminish your pain, and erase toxins, is all combined in this one book.
The book talks about what is causing your pain, how you can eliminate it, how you can eat healthier and avoid toxins, how to lower your stress levels, how to get a decent amount of sleep.
The book is filled with valuable information that will come in handy for anyone, whether you suffer from chronic pain or not. A very valuable resource, marked down in chapters so you can easily go back to the chapters you need or the information you’re looking for.
Book Review originally published here: http://www.iheartreading.net/book-tou…
The book is broken down into chapters on specific toxins – for example cosmetics, or cleaning supplies or canned goods, or dairy.
This made it very easy to stop and start reading and go back and forth between chapters as needed. I have marked several sections to go back and re-read once I am ready for the next step. The author has researched and sourced a lot of information and if you want to read what she did there are 19 pages of end notes and additional resources. She pleasantly wove her own personal story of health throughout the book giving it a nice relatable feeling.Whether you are a novice or been on this road for a while, this book has something for you. It Feels Good to Feel Good will be staying on my shelf to re-read as I continue to try and be a healthier person.

Removing fast foods and processed foods from our diets to achieve health does require some effort but, as we all know, effort equals gain. Acting as a health muse, the author shares what she learned when dealing with her own pain caused by inflammation. She advises that the body can heal itself if you give it proper nutrients and stay away from chemicals. The information in this book may be enough for you take ownership of your health – no one will do it for you.

Packed With Information About Our Food and Cosmetics
It Feels Good to Feel Good by Cheryl Meyer is packed with information about toxins in our food and cosmetics. Beyond that, it gives us information on avoiding these toxins and chemicals and where to find affordable alternatives. Also, every chapter includes lists of things you can do to improve in different areas. For example, you can eat only organically grown meat and eggs and vegetables, or you can eat more seeds and less animal products in general. There is mention of the current bee crisis which involves collapsing hives due to an unknown factor. Nobody likes bees, but do you like honey, do you like that plants are pollinated so that we can get food, do you like that trees are pollinated so that we can get oxygen? It would be a very far-reaching problem if the bees were to disappear.
Meyer goes into great detail on the fine points of various food choices that we make every day. For instance do you eat full-fat or low-fat dairy? Farm-raised or wild-caught fish? Shrimp from Asia or Mexico? Knowing the answers will make a huge difference in your health. When you eat according to the rules stated by this author, it is said that you will detox, lose weight, clear your skin, get regular, and many other benefits. Cosmetics are a very high source of toxicity in your body. Think about it. You either apply products to your skin, spray them on, or put them on your lips which you will end up ingesting. When applying products around your eyes, they can get immediately into your bloodstream from the capillaries that are close to the surface. From there it is just a short distance to the brain. Cleaning supplies are another hotbed of chemicals. Check out the resources listed to find out what is in your products and follow the rest of the suggestions in this book. It’s very comprehensive and will help your health dramatically.””Reviewed By Mary C. Blowers for Readers’ Favorite

It Feels Good to Feel Good is an extremely helpful and enlightening book!
As a woman who suffers with an auto-immune disease, I thought I had a good grasp on what I needed to do to “live clean”. But even I learned a LOT from reading it! Cheryl has packed a ton of information and research into this book, yet it’s easy to read and consume the content. I especially love how she begins each chapter with a list of it’s highlights. This is very helpful when you are wanting to look back at a particular topic for reference, as I have already found myself doing many times over. And she also provides websites and sources for you to delve deeper if you wish to continue researching that topic. It’s like a manual for living well, so you can enjoy living! I highly recommend it even if you aren’t already feeling the aches and pains from all the toxins we consume.
Cheryl Meyers book “It Feels Good To Feel Good” is a terrific look at improving your health the natural way.
